Last game of the year

They lost, which means they're done. Kind of a relief I must say, I think we were all getting a little tired of 2 nights a week since the beginning of May.  I also think Emily was a little tired last night from getting to bed so late the night before because of the game.  She copped a little attitude (shocking!) before they started when I was trying to tell her to put 2 hands on her glove and put the glove all the way down for grounders.

First off, these pictures didn't post in the order I wanted them to, and since I am anal aboutt things like that, I have to let it go ;-)  Last night was their second playoff game and they won (which I don't think anyone expected them to) so they play again tonight. If they lose they will be done.  The coaches pitch to their own team, Emily was "pitcher" here.

Nick, Emily, and I go over to Jerrod and Lindsey's sometimes in the mornings while Jacob is in school to play with the babies (as Emily says)  Yesterday Jerrod gave N&E this little 4 in one thing from the zoo that they really wanted.  (They have been carrying it around ever since)  Anyways, Savannah (it's very hard for me to call them by their real names, usually it's Scooter and Skeeter!) is getting so big!!!   Smiling away at us :-)

Concerts

You know, I have been to a lot of concerts in my life.   Many many many of them have either been at the New Union in Minneapolis, or at Sonshine Music Festival in Willmar. One year I was lucky enough to go to Cornerstone in Illinois with the youth group.  All of those were christian music groups...rap, pop, metal, whatever..... The best thing about those was that my youth pastor had high connections with a lot of the groups/singers so we would meet a bunch of bands.  At the New Union the groups most of the time would hang out in the pool table/restaurant area to chat with the fans. I remember this one time I was talking to one of the rap groups telling them how much I liked then and had all their tapes (yes cassette tapes haha) and during the set they called me up on stage to dance with them. I bet I looked awesome in my early 90s hair and clothes. :-D  My all time favorites will of course be DC Talk and PFR.  I can't even count how many times I have seen them, mostly with Becky.....we have some great memories!!!! 

I have seen Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, and various country artists: Garth Brooks, Reba, Brooks and Dunn, Rascal Flatts (woot!) and many others.  My very first concert however, was New Kids on the Block.   My mom was lucky enough to go with me!!!  And I am happy to say that in October I will be seeing them again at the Xcel!!!   I *am sad to say that this time I do *not have a ticket for mom  :-(   heh    My friend Elizabeth has extra tickets and we are going!!!  I have already dug out my shirts and my ginormous buttons for this exciting event. Jerrod laughed at me, but I'm pretty sure he's just jealous.  We reminisced this morning about the videos we used to watch.... he claims he had to, but he could have left the room I'm sure ;-)

Wow it seems like forever and a day that he was this small.  Now he's 5, finally talking, potty trained, and starting Kindergarten in the fall.  ::::sniff::::    :-)

Is it September yet?

And I'm not just talking about my birthday, because people take me out to dinner. I'm talking school. For these BORED children I have!!!  I can imagine that for the next few days as VBS excitement wears off they will be whining about where to go. Luckily it will be hot and we can swim in the pool.    We're also planning a trip to the Minnesota Zoo with some friends soon, and as usual the Como Zoo is a favorite of ours. If anyone wants to do anything, let me know!!!

That was the VBS theme this week- SonWorld Adventure Park.  The past 2 yrs i have been in the skits and in the sound booth for the week, but this year I was a small group leader. Each large group had about 4-6 small groups in it, and we rotated stations throughout the morning. (I had 3rd graders, including Nick)   As you can see, during the obstacle course I was challenged by another leader who happens to be our worship leader......I beat him to the rope swing but that didn't stop him from trying to sabotage me anyways ;-)    The week is so exhausting but a lot of fun.  Next year it's rumored to be a camping theme....I better find my bug spray.............

the long weekend

Friday Bill was off work, so we took the kids to the Como Zoo. Ran into my friend Molly who I used to work with at Lifetime, and he parents and little brother and sister. We bought a few tickets so the kids could go on a few rides, and they have this huge playground thing in the middle of Como Town that Jacob loved.

Met Megan (another Lifetime survivor) and her husband Brendan at Veterans Park in Richfield for fireworks. We got there about 2 minutes before they started b/c Bill insisted on stopping at Walgreens for snacks. Men. Good thing Megan saved us seats!!! Jacob was of course freaked out by the noise and kept saying "it's ok, it's ok" the whole time ;-) Today was uneventful, went to church and thenMcDonalds with mom and Wayne, did a little grocery shopping.

Now it's back to the busy-ness of summer. Emily didn't have baseball last week, and my team didn't have a game. Emily has 2 this week, and I'll be going to watch my team on Tuesday. Jacob starts school tomorrow: Mon-Thurs 9-10:30 and next week we have VBS. I can't wait!!! VBS week is so exhausting but so much fun.
