Jacob at VBS

This week has gone surprisingly well for Jacob. Our pastor's wife, Sandy, has had Jacob Duty and she is amazing with him! It helps that she also has a child with autism (who I believe is 19 now) and they have been having a blast! There are more pics but these are my faves

He is obsessed with mailboxes because of Blue's Clues

He had an ant on his hand.

VBS Day 1

So far we are done with 2 days, and a very exhausting two days they have been, and Sunday we spent almost 4 hrs setting up and decorating as well. The theme this year is Son Rock Kids Camp (I totally just sang that in my head as I typed it!) The songs are fun, treats are yummy, and kids are excited. Well most anyways....I have a couple in my group that are being grumpy about being there, but for the most part it's ok. We are 'assigned' a different color to wear everyday (I use the term loosely b/c it's not mandatory to wear it, just fun) and yesterday was blue. I always make sure that by Saturday I have everyone's shirts planned out for the week. I will NOT be scrambling around at 7 am trying to find a green shirt for this person, or a red shirt for that one. I have enough to do!!! I am also in the skit this year so that's another thing to worry about. Anyways, the Camp Counselors take their groups of kids to different stations, and one is called Exploration Station. It's *kind of like a craft room, but more experimental. Yesterday we dissected owl pellets. For those of you not in the know, owl pellets are big chucks of yuck filled with bones and fur that an owl can't digest. He regurgitates it. Hungry yet? I surprised myself, I thought for sure I would be digging in and tearing this thing apart. NOPE. I couldn't touch it. At all. One of the kids found a rodent skull, and I actually gagged. You could see TEETH!!! For those of you that don't know me, I have what can only be described as a phobia of mice. Really, I freeze when I see one. It's beyond retarded. Anywho, I was standing as far back from the table as I could without the kids making fun of me (ha ha) and the leaders of the station found it humorous that rough fearless Tina wouldn't touch dead bones. Whatever. ;-) We stayed after to practice the next days skits and by the time we got home we decided to go swimming. I also worked last night and I am amazed I am still awake to write this!!!
These pics were taken by either Pastor Bill or Kari T. I like Bill's close ups by I also like Kari's action shots.

Not Me Monday!!

Welcome to Not Me Monday, a blog carnival created by MckMama. More Not Me Mondays can be seen here: http://www.mycharmingkids.net/

Summer vacation is here. That means that for most "meals" (I use the term loosely) it's pretty much every man for himself. I certainly did NOT let the kids have bread, popcorn, and bananas for supper last night b/c I was too tired to actually make something.

I did NOT scoop the last of the hummus out of the container with my finger and then lick it off a la 2 yr old style because I had run out of carrots. Nope, not me.

I did NOT put Peanut's underwear on Train Wreck because I couldn't find any clean ones for him. He really didn't mind the My Little Pony anyway.

I did NOT tell Bubba and Peanut to 'just chill' in the pool yesterday cuz I was getting a tan. Nope.

I did NOT tell them I was going to put them on Ebay if they didn't stop the toddler whining and tattling about each other to me. (Please don't call CPS, I wouldn't) Thanks.

I did NOT cave and buy a 12 pack of Mt Dew at Target today because it was on sale and I am gearing myself up for VBS week. (I also did NOT let Bubba and Peanut have a can with lunch) Think Big Mac and Nuggey would like to come over and have some?? :-D

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to NOT stuff a bunch of school papers in the closet b/c they're taking up room on the table, and I need to read Twilight. NOT ME. Happy Monday!

Raisins!!!!
This was after the girls got lost....and then found. We were checking out the coral reef from above, in the Tropics Trail. We looked ahead of us and didn't see them, so we went in. It's dark and it slopes downward, so once we got down there and didn't see them, I sent Jenni back to check again and I went out ahead. Turns out for whatever reason, they gone back beyond the coral reef to find us. ?? We were standing right there the whole time!! Anyway, they were both bwaling by the time Jenni found them, and pretty much didn't leave our sides for the next half hour.Walking through the bamboo
